More Indian students needs to be attracted by Canadian immigration

The executive director of the Office of Immigration, Elizabeth Mills, said that just showing that Nova Scotia is a wonderful place to live will not attract talented immigrants. She said at a gathering of Atlantic Canadian municipal leaders in Halifax that the only way to make immigrants stay is to provide them jobs.

Immigration minister Jason Kenney should be highly praised for initiating an all important and much needed public debate regarding the language skills and civic literacy of immigrants who aspire to become Canadian citizens.

At a time when birth rate level has gone far too low and it is not in any position to uphold the population, Canadian immigration is the only way to ensure the growth of the country. According to the Ottawa Citizen newspaper, Canada needs to be able to attract more number of immigrants to live and work in Canada so that the country could prosper. However, the newspaper stated that there is need for more funding to cities and towns to assist immigrants in settling for achieving the desired results.

Assumptions regarding the cost of illegal immigration have been challenged by reports of three big papers this week on the basis of three new local studies. According to The Times which threw its weight behind a ULCA study which revealed that Latino immigrants in California have lesser tendency to visit doctors, clinics, and emergency rooms in comparison to US-born Latinos. However, this does not state that healthcare expenses for illegal immigrants are low.

Ninety-nine percent of the Indian students become Permanent Residents in Canada and with this success rate the population of Indian students is high in Canada today.
