Two queens join hands for a new soap

After playing the role of Vikrant in ‘Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka’ and Mahesh in ‘Kasauti Zindagi Kay’, Sanjit is now roped in for yet another Balaji soap, where he will be seen in a tapori look.

The queen of soaps, Ekta Kapoor and the queen of small screen, Smriti Irani, join hands for a fresh weekend soap ‘Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan’.

Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and Smriti Irani will co-produce the new soap which will be launched on 19 August at 10:30 pm.

Smriti Irani is euphoric and feels extremely honoured that Star Plus has given her the opportunity to graduate from an actor to a producer. Ekta gave her a golden opportunity years back when she casted her in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, where she plays the role of Tulsi. She has been the pivot character of the serial ever since it got going.

‘Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan’ revolves around a 27 year old Uma didi. Uma is the central character of the show and is shown as a biddable daughter of a mill worker. She undertakes various jobs in order to run the family ever since the mills were shut.

The show is set in the typical ‘chawl’ of Mumbai, a place where all the mill workers live and are out of jobs. It is a story full of hardships and tribulations of a common man’s everyday life. Uma holds the centre stage and people look up to her for inspiration. She is the driving force for the chawl people who draw their strength and reason to live from her indomitable spirit.

Kamlesh Pandey has done the screenplay and story for the serial. He is the man behind blockbuster movies such as ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Tezaab’. The soap is directed by Santram Verma.

Sanjit in a new avatar

Sanjit Bedi will now be seen in an all together different role in Ekta-Smriti produced show, ‘Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasman’.

After playing the role of Vikrant in ‘Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka’ and Mahesh in ‘Kasauti Zindagi Kay’, Sanjit is now roped in for yet another Balaji soap, where he will be seen in a tapori look.

Sanjit is all geared up for his new avatar and is quite excited about it. It is the first time he will be doing a risible role. In the soap, he plays the role of Munnabhai, who is a big time tapori. He's a crucial part of Uma's (Smriti Z Iraani) group and gives a comic relief to the show.

Another person who will be seen in a new look in ‘Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasman’ is Abhimanyu Singh. Singh had played the role of Inspector Arjun Shrivastava in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Aks’. He will now play the role of a fakir for the serial.

Just like the other serials of Ekta, this show too brags of a vast star cast. The story orbits around class system where Smriti Z Iraani, Pawan Shankar and Sanjit Bedi belong to the lower class while Harsh Chayya and his two brothers belong to the upper class.

With a name like Munnabhai, our expectations from Sanjit are sky high. Let’s see if Sanjit will live up to it!
