Firstly, one should not tell the boss too much, yet if your crisis worsens, you may need to solicit cooperation from your boss. If you verbalize too many details now, it will make it hard for your boss to listen later. Share the bare facts only; this will help the boss stay open to offering you ample time or resources if things go from bad to worse.
Secondly, contact only those who need to know. Do not tell everyone which might make the situation worse to handle for you. Email the ones you need to saying that you have a family emergency ad can’t get the information requested until next week or so. Or call up the important customers and say that you have a family crisis going on and will be in office from 9 a.m. until noon only, for the coming week.
Thirdly, ask people whom you are close to for help specially when things are delicate. They could be of help in various ways like by just giving you a call and alerting if something is wrong, taking a family member to the nearby hospital or clinic. Even co-workers could be kept in the hospital so that they could keep updating on the situation.
This will relieve some pressure from the tackling situation and also help one in the work environment. One needs to be cautious in these times; there are ways of living and accepting life’s challenges we must adhere to them.
